The project of our customer for the sustainable packaging for his premium product – nuts was really inspiring. A typical structure for the nuts packaging PET/PET met/PE wasn´t the chosen one.
The customer decided to have a more sustainable solution.
Sustainable principles Remove-Reduce-Recycle are present in the all parts of this project.
Remove – the particular layers of the “typical” composite (PET and PET met layer) were replaced, so that the physical-mechanical properties of the packaging remained the same.
Reduce – number of the layers were reduced. The structure is based on Duplex instead of Triplex.
Recycle – the structure based on PP – matt OPP film/barrier PP film can fully replace the typical structure and is fully recyclable. Matt OPP film is used instead of matt varnish.
After usage of the product itself the packaging can be fully recycled and so it fulfills the criteria of circular economy.
